Q15 Alpha Motors Ltd. develops a new two-wheeler engine technology that improves fuel efficiency using a unique combustion mechanism. The company obtains a patent for this invention. A competing company, Beta Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., launches a motorcycle claiming to use a "different" technology but achieving similar results. Alpha Motors alleges that Beta's product infringes its patent and seeks an injunction. Beta argues that its technology is independently developed and does not fall within the scope of Alpha's patent claims. (i) According to the Indian Patents Act, discuss whether Alpha Motors is entitled to an injunction. (ii) Discuss the defences available to Delta Motors in a patent infringement suit.
