SECTION III - Q.3: Solve any two of the following problems (12 Marks - 6 marks each)

  1. Q17 A female employee, Karuna, is five months pregnant and has been working for the last two years in the establishment for the same employer. (i) What kind of Maternity Benefit can Karuna claim from her employer? (ii) When should Karuna give notice to her employer? (iii) What shall be the procedure adopted by the employer to determine the Maternity Benefit in the case of Karuna?
  2. Q18 On a sudden raid by the police at a Brothel, they found many young ladies along with a minor girl aged ten years. (i) Are all the ladies to be punished? Under which Act? (ii) Whether the minor girl aged ten years shall also be liable to punishment? If not, then what is the alternative? (iii) Whether the senior lady living on the earnings from the Brothel is also liable to be punished? Yes or no, state reasons for the same.
  3. Q19 A Muslim woman seeks divorce from her husband. (i) Can the divorced wife marry another man? (ii) When can the divorced wife marry her own husband? Give reasons for your answer.

  1. Q20 Write in detail the offences relating to marriage under the Indian Penal Code, 1860 with respect to women under the following heads: (i) Cohabitation by deceitful means, S. 493. (ii) Bigamy, S. 494. (iii) Adultery, S. 497.
  2. Q21 Discuss the health and safety of women under the Factories Act, 1948.
  3. Q22 Discuss the constitutional provisions for the benefit of women and explain how it safeguards the interests and rights of women.
  4. Q23 Discuss in detail the important provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.
  5. Q24 Discuss the various personal laws with special reference to the unequal position of women.
  6. Q25 Discuss the legal control of Child labour and also discuss the recommendations of the National Commission of Labour.
