SECTION III - Q.3: Solve any two of the following problems (12 Marks - 6 marks each)

1. Q17 On a sudden raid by the police at a Brothel, they found many young ladies along with a minor girl aged ten years. (i) Are all the ladies to be punished? If yes, under which Act? (ii) Whether the minor girl aged ten years shall also be liable to punishment? If not, then what is the alternative? (iii) Whether the senior lady living on the earnings from the Brothel is also liable to be punished? Yes or no, state reasons for the same.
2. Q18 A Hindu male adopts a child with the consent of his wife B. (i) Can such adoption deprive the adoptive father or mother of the power to dispose of his or her own property by transfer inter vivos or by will? (ii) Can any property vested in the adopted child before the adoption continue to vest in such person? (iii) Can the adoption be cancelled? Why?
3. Q19 Ajit, a Hindu, married Priya, a Hindu, under Hindu rites. After eight years of marriage Ajit told his wife Priya that he did not want to live with her, hence they should be divorced by mutual consent, as Ajit wanted to marry Prerna. Ajit also embraced Islam for the same and obtained a certificate of conversion to Islam from a Qazi. (i) What is the nature of the offence committed? State the punishment for the same. (ii) Under which section of the IPC is the offence and the punishment committed? (iii) Write the Judgement and the name of the case law.
