Frequently asked questions
Are these official Mumbai University answers?+
No. These are model answers written by munotes for study use. The University of Mumbai does not publish an official answer key, so no site can offer one. Use these to check your approach and your structure.
Are they free to read?+
Yes. Every answer opens straight away, with no login and no payment.
Why is a paper not solved yet?+
Papers are solved one subject at a time, and the newest exam of each subject is written first. The question paper itself is already on munotes and free to read, whether or not its answers are written.
About this subject
This subject has been set 32 times since November 2010: 27 times as Law of Evidence, on the Indian Evidence Act, 1872, and 5 times since April 2025 as the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023. The LL.B. and B.L.S. pages carry the same 32 papers. The pattern has changed three times. Until 2019 every paper was out of 100, with ten two-mark questions, short notes, three problems and six long questions (18 papers, counting the B.L.S. paper of May 2023). From November 2022 the 60:40 papers appeared (10 papers), and from April 2025 the LL.B. BSA paper has been 75:25 with 13-mark long questions (3 papers). The 2021-22 online paper was 20 multiple choice and 10 short questions.
The 759 printed questions come down to 386 different questions, and 151 of them have been set more than once, covering 524 of the 759. The same question on the kinds of evidence and their value, in slightly different words, is on 13 papers, from 2010 to 2026. Who is an accomplice, and the res gestae rule, are on 11 papers each. The definition of evidence, the burden of proof essay and the kinds of estoppel are on 8 each. By topic, confession is on 29 of the 32 papers, the burden of proof on 25, the examination of witnesses on 24, electronic records on 23, estoppel on 22 and the dying declaration, by name, on 21. All five BSA papers ask about forensic evidence, which no Evidence Act paper did.
These are model answers prepared by munotes. They are a study aid and not official University answer keys, which the University of Mumbai does not publish.
