About this subject
Twenty papers, from April 2011 to May 2026, set 470 questions, and they come down to 244 distinct answers: 89 questions recur, and between them they fill 315 of the printed slots. Kinds of jurisdiction and the origin and development of the conflict of laws are each set on nine papers; lex situs on eight; civil death, restitution of conjugal rights, the Rome Convention, the English approach to classification and the American custody order problem on seven each. The problems are mostly decided cases with the names changed: the Vita Food bill of lading is set on six papers, The Assunzione on three with a different second question each time, and Ogden, Sottomayor, Langley, Shaw v. Gould, Jacobs v. Credit Lyonnais and Boys v. Chaplin all appear. The papers were set for 100 marks until 2019 and at 60:40 from 2023. Since April 2025 the LL.B. paper has been 75:25, and at two sittings (April 2025, May 2026) the B.L.S. course sat a separate 60:40 paper. The October 2024 paper also sets public international law. Two papers (April 2014 and May 2017) survive only in Marathi, and their questions are shown in our English rendering.
These are model answers prepared by munotes. They are a study aid and not official University answer keys, which the University of Mumbai does not publish.
