How students use these papers

1 Solve it first, under exam conditions Open the question paper, give it the full duration, and write as you would in the hall.
2 Then compare, answer by answer Look at structure and coverage before wording. Marks are lost by missing a part of the question, not by writing it badly.
3 Watch what repeats across sittings A question that comes back two years running is worth learning in full, not just recognising.

No. These are model answers written by munotes for study use. The University of Mumbai does not publish an official answer key, so no site can offer one. Use these to check your approach and your structure.

About this subject

This subject has been set 30 times since November 2010, and the LL.B. and B.L.S. pages carry the same 30 papers. Until 2019 every paper was out of 100, with ten two-mark questions, six short notes, three problems and six long questions (18 papers, counting the B.L.S. paper of May 2023). From November 2022 the 60:40 papers appeared (8 papers), and since April 2025 the LL.B. paper has been 75:25 with 13-mark long questions (3 papers). The 2021-22 online paper was 20 multiple choice and 10 short questions. The November 2010 paper survives only as a typed copy.

The 718 printed questions come down to 404 different questions, and 136 of them have been set more than once, covering 450 of the 718. The two-mark question on the patent of addition is on 12 papers; performer, collective mark, inventive step, copyright societies and the grounds of refusal of a trade mark are on 9 each. By topic, passing off is on 18 of the 30 papers, copyright infringement and fair dealing on 18, geographical indications on 17, the refusal of trade marks on 16, the patent of addition and performers on 16 each, and the inventions that cannot be patented on 14. Nine problems have been set twice, among them the Government making a patented drug (both 2023 papers), a film on a historical figure (December 2012 and November 2024) and a patent for the topography of an integrated circuit (2018-19 and November 2022).

These are model answers prepared by munotes. They are a study aid and not official University answer keys, which the University of Mumbai does not publish.
