  1. Q15 A collision occurred on the high seas between a French vessel and a Turkish vessel. Victims were Turkish nationals and the alleged offender was French. Could Turkey exercise its jurisdiction over this French national under international law? (a) Did Turkey violate IL when Turkish courts exercised jurisdiction over a crime committed by a French national outside Turkey? (b) What is the name of this International Law Case? Which Court settled this case?
  2. Q16 A 50-year-old man and his 25-year-old son were arrested by the Chennai Police during Covid 19 Lockdown. Later, both were found dead in the Police Lockup due to brutal beating by the police. (a) What rights are violated in the above incident? (b) Who is responsible for the violation of these rights? Explain.
  3. Q17 Though being members of the United Nations, many countries continue to remain engaged in unresolved conflicts and ongoing wars. For example, the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has not reached a permanent consensus. (a) Explain the role of the UNO to maintain peace and security in the World. (b) Why is UNO unable to effectively resolve international conflicts?

(a) Does an employer have any obligations in ensuring a safe workplace? (b) Identify the landmark case related to the above facts and explain its significance.
