Banking Laws is Paper VI of LLM Group II, Business Law, subject code 70508, and the first thing to establish is how many papers this folder actually holds. Seven files hold eleven distinct printed papers, because four of the scans carry two complete and different hundred mark papers rather than a paper and its Marathi: the 2015 file holds Q.P. Codes 15881 and 27229, the 2016 file holds 312001 and 11885, the 2018 file holds 33684 and a paper carrying the printer's form 60140, and the three page 2019 file holds form 68583 on page one and form 80008 on pages two and three, the third page being form 80008's Marathi and not a separate paper. Only 2023, 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 are single papers.

Two subjects are in every single one of the eleven papers: the functions and powers of the Reserve Bank of India, which draws thirteen questions across the folder, and the law of negotiable instruments, which draws sixteen. After those, the winding up of banking companies appears in ten papers, automation and cards and internet banking in ten, the banker and customer relationship in nine, and the bank rate or credit control in eight. Nothing else comes close.

That produces the most useful fact about this folder. Prepare four topics properly, the Reserve Bank, negotiable instruments, winding up of banking companies, and automation with cards and internet banking, and you can answer at least the four questions you are required to write on every one of the eleven papers, with six available to you on two of them. No set of three topics does that. This was tested against every paper rather than estimated.

The shape has never moved in eleven years: three hours, one hundred marks, attempt any four questions, all questions carry equal marks, and cite relevant case law. So every question is worth twenty five marks and you have about forty five minutes for each. No paper in this folder prints twenty five against a question, which unsettles students who expect to see it; the figure is the paper's own arithmetic. The older papers set five or six questions and the papers from 2019 onward set seven.

One question is set in almost identical words in eight of the eleven papers, on the provisions relating to winding up of banking companies under the Banking Regulation Act and the measures that would prevent it, and it appears as a short note in two more. It is the most reliably answerable question in the subject. Note that it has two halves and the second, on prevention, is the one candidates skip: it is worth about half the marks and it is really a question about capital, connected lending under section 20, inspection and directions under sections 35 and 35A, and the reconstruction power in section 45.

The two most recent papers are written in a different idiom from the older ones and are worth reading before you revise. Where 15881 asks for the main functions of the Reserve Bank under three named heads, form 86177 of 2024-2025 asks you to examine the statutory framework within the Reserve Bank of India Act that empowers monetary policy and to evaluate the effectiveness of the tools, and form 06861 of April 2026 asks for the nature, scope and various functions. The older papers ask what a power is; the newer ones ask how well it works, and an answer written as a list of functions will not fit.

Four printing faults in this folder are worth knowing so that you do not think you have misread. Form 60140 prints Good Leading Practices where it means lending. Form 80008 prints the principles of sound leading Policies, and its own Marathi translation on the next page says lending, which settles it. Form 21040 of 2023 prints discuss legal relationship between between banker and customer. And the Marathi half of form 06861, the April 2026 paper, is defective: it numbers its questions one, two, three, five, six and seven, its Q.5 is the translation of the English Q.4 on transfer and dishonour of negotiable instruments, and the English Q.5 on the recovery of loans and advances has no Marathi at all. A candidate working from the Marathi page is a question short.
