How to use this volume
Solve the paper first, under exam conditions and against the clock. Then read the answers here and mark your own. Reading a solution before attempting the question feels productive and teaches very little, because recognising an answer is not the same as being able to write one.
Q.1: Answer each of the following questions in 2
two · or 3 (three) sentences (20 Marks - 2 marks each)
Answer
Section 2(k) of the Maharashtra Stamp Act, 1958 (called the Bombay Stamp Act until it was renamed by Mah. 24 of 2012) provides that "impressed stamp" includes:
Impressed and adhesive stamps. An adhesive stamp is stuck on the paper and must be cancelled at execution, or the instrument is treated as unstamped (section 12). An impressed stamp is part of the paper or the impression itself.
Rules for using impressed stamp paper.
Example. A franking-machine impression on a sale deed is an impressed stamp. So is the receipt of an e-payment of the duty, and so is the embossed stamp on a sheet of stamp paper.
