BLS LLB 5 Years Sem 4 Logic 2 Solved Question Papers with Answers 2017 to 2027 - Mumbai University | munotes

How students use these papers

1 Solve it first, under exam conditions Open the question paper, give it the full duration, and write as you would in the hall.
2 Then compare, answer by answer Look at structure and coverage before wording. Marks are lost by missing a part of the question, not by writing it badly.
3 Watch what repeats across sittings A question that comes back two years running is worth learning in full, not just recognising.

Frequently asked questions

Are these official Mumbai University answers?+

No. These are model answers written by munotes for study use. The University of Mumbai does not publish an official answer key, so no site can offer one. Use these to check your approach and your structure.

Are they free to read?+

The question papers are free. Where a semester's solved papers pass is on sale, the answers open with that pass; each paper's page says which applies to it.

Why is a paper not solved yet?+

Papers are solved one subject at a time, and the newest exam of each subject is written first. The question paper itself is already on munotes and free to read, whether or not its answers are written.

About this subject

Logic 2 has one question you can count on. All thirteen papers solved here end with the same task: construct a complex constructive dilemma from the premises given. In twelve of them it is the compulsory last part of the long answer section, at 12 or 13 marks. There you must also rebut and refute it. In the 60 mark paper that is a fifth of the marks. In the May 2022 online paper it was a 3 mark written question, asking for the construction only. The premises are new almost every time: a dam, screen time, mutual funds, a pampered son. Only one argument is set twice, in 2017-18 and again in October 2024. It is the old dilemma of the emigrants, who burden the colonies if useless and are a loss to the mother country if useful.

So learn the method, not an answer. Put the dilemma in standard form and in symbols, and show why the form is valid. Refute it by escaping between the horns or by taking it by the horns. Rebut it with a counter-dilemma, and then say whether the rebuttal refutes it. On Joseph's account it does so only when the facts hold an impossible assumption, as with Protagoras and Euathlus.

The third section is nearly as fixed. In all twelve written papers it includes the same three tasks: test syllogisms for validity, reduce a mood, and identify the fallacies in short arguments. Nine papers ask for the indirect reduction of Baroco or Bocardo at 6 marks, Baroco five times and Bocardo four. These are the two moods that cannot be reduced directly. One Baroco question does not name the mood. It gives a syllogism about horses and quadrupeds and leaves you to recognise it. Since May 2024, six of the seven papers set the fallacy task twice, once for non-formal fallacies and once for formal ones.

The other long answers come from a short list. Twelve papers have a long answer section, and between them they set 59 long answers. Every one of the twelve has a long answer on hypothesis or on the hypothetico-deductive method. Eleven have one on cause, and the twelfth sets Mill's view of cause as a short note. Ten have one on the categorical syllogism: its rules, a figure, the middle term or Aristotle's dictum. Seven ask about Peter Singer, on ends and means, on equality or on civil disobedience. With the twelve dilemmas, those topics make up 53 of the 59. The other six are on fallacies, kinds of agreement and disagreement, and the impediments to good reasoning.

Within those topics the favourites are clear. The popular notion of cause is a long answer in five papers. The October 2025 60:40 paper also sets common sense views of causation as a short note. The scientific notion of cause is a long answer four times, once on its significance in law and once with Mill's contribution. The conditions of a good hypothesis are a long answer five times. So is the hypothetico-deductive method, or the stages of a hypothesis, and the 2017-18 paper asks for it through the discovery of Neptune.

The thirteen papers print 296 questions. Thirty-eight stems are printed more than once, covering 104 of them, and the same question gets the same answer here every time. So the 296 questions need 230 distinct answers. Aristotle's dictum is a 2 mark question in five papers, and so is the definition of a hypothesis. Mediate inference and two impediments to good reasoning are asked in four papers each. The three regular papers since 2024 each ask about anumana in Nyaya logic. Singer's cases come as short questions: Bob Brown's case in four papers, Oskar Schindler's in two and Joan Andrews's in one. Four legal maxims appear too. Vis major is in six papers, respondeat superior in four and volenti non fit injuria in three. In jure non remota causa sed proxima spectatur is set once, as a 12 mark answer in October 2025.

Some facts about the files will save you confusion. The file listed as 2025-26 ATKT 60:40 holds two papers, both sat on 14 October 2025. The 60:40 paper is numbered 1 to 21 here, and the 75:25 paper 22 to 42. The files listed as 2025-26 and 2025-26 ATKT 75:25 are one printed paper, sat on 30 April 2026, so their answers are the same. The file listed as 2019-20 is the paper sat on 12 June 2019. The 2021-22 file is the May 2022 online paper. Two of its multiple choice questions are faulty, and the answers say so. In question 7 two of the options are right, and question 8 wrongly assumes that indirect reduction uses conversion.

Check which pattern you are sitting. Up to June 2019 this was a 100 mark paper in three hours. It had ten 2 mark questions, four short notes at 5, two problems at 6 and four long answers of 12. May 2022 was an online paper of twenty multiple choice and ten written questions, with 30 marks for each part. Since 2023, code 57212 is the 60 mark paper, ending with the dilemma and one other long answer of 12. Code 66852 is the 75 mark paper, ending with the dilemma and two others of 13. In both, the first three sections are worth 12 marks each.

These are model answers prepared by munotes. They are a study aid and not official University answer keys, which the University of Mumbai does not publish.
