Zscaler
About this role
This is the widest scoped of Zscaler's engineering roles today, and it sits in the AI Security department. You own features end to end across the whole stack: React on the front, Spring Boot microservices in the middle, and cloud native infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes underneath. The service design is REST APIs plus event driven Kafka within a microservices architecture, so the messaging layer is a real part of the work rather than a detail. Zscaler is candid that ownership here includes logging, observability and cross functional work with UX and product, not just shipping the feature. At 5 or more years the bar is the same as its backend roles, so the breadth is the differentiator rather than the seniority.
Who this is for
The employer asks for 5 or more years of software development experience building full stack applications. Required: React for user interfaces, Spring Boot microservices in Java, cloud native infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes, REST API design, and event driven services using Kafka. Zscaler also asks for a foundational understanding of AI and ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing or positioning AI driven solutions in your own domain, which is consistent across its postings this cycle.
The day to day: building full stack features across the React UI, Spring Boot microservices and cloud native infrastructure, designing REST APIs and event driven Kafka services within a microservices architecture, and owning features end to end including logging, observability and cross functional collaboration with UX and product management.
Location is Bangalore, hybrid at three days a week in the office, reporting to a Director of Software Development Engineering in the AI Security department.
Good fit if you genuinely work across the stack and want to do it on security products rather than a CRUD application. Not a fit if you specialise narrowly in either frontend or backend, because the posting asks for end to end ownership of both.
