Postman
About this role
This is a 0 to 1 infrastructure job inside an established company, which is a rare combination. Fabric Gateway is a brand new Postman product built from scratch: a policy driven control plane that governs how AI agents connect to APIs, services and other agents. Postman's bet is that enterprises are moving from humans calling APIs to multi agent systems doing it autonomously, and that the runtime layer for those calls is the next thing worth owning. The team is small and deliberately founding shaped, so architecture decisions made now set the pattern for years. Expect distributed systems work at high request volume, with observability, performance, reliability, SLA targets and on call named as your own responsibility rather than another team's handoff.
Who this is for
The employer asks for 6 or more years building infrastructure level or platform software in cloud native or SaaS environments. The posting is explicit that this is founding level engineering: you design, build and own critical systems of the gateway from the ground up, lead architecture decisions for distributed systems that must be fast, reliable and correct at scale, and set patterns the rest of the team follows.
The day to day: driving technical direction and high leverage decisions, owning observability, performance and reliability end to end including SLA targets, monitoring and on call, working directly with the engineering manager and product manager to scope milestones and iterate toward Early Access and general availability, plus design and code reviews and mentoring other engineers.
Location is Bengaluru. The posting does not state a number of office days. Postman lists full medical coverage, flexible PTO, a wellness reimbursement and a monthly lunch stipend.
Good fit if you have taken a platform or infrastructure product from nothing to a production system other engineers trust, and you want that scope again with 40 million developers already in the ecosystem. Not a fit if you prefer a mature codebase and a settled roadmap: the posting says plainly this is not incremental work.
