MongoDB
About this role
This is deep technical support rather than a helpdesk, and it is the kind of role a reader of this list asked for by name. Technical Services Engineers at MongoDB diagnose problems across the whole stack, from the application tier through the database down to storage, for partners and their customers. The requirement list is heavy on systems engineering: Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, networking, clusters, the TCP/IP stack at both operating system and hypervisor level, and hands on work with NAS, SAN, local storage and multipathing. Coding ability in at least one language is required too. MongoDB publishes a clear ramp for the role, including completing its Certified DBA Associate exam within six months, which tells you the training is structured rather than sink or swim.
Who this is for
MongoDB publishes no years of experience figure on this posting, so none has been recorded here rather than guessing.
Required: experience building and maintaining complex mission critical production database systems, either relational or NoSQL; coding or scripting ability in one or more of Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js or Go; experience working with APIs to integrate third party technologies across areas such as security and fraud, big data analytics and AI, healthcare, content management, IoT and database performance monitoring; solid hands on systems engineering covering Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters and troubleshooting; the ability to analyse issues holistically from application tier through database down to storage; troubleshooting the TCP/IP networking stack at operating system and hypervisor level; experience using or administering AWS, Azure or GCP; and hands on administration of NAS, SAN, local storage and multipathing.
Preferred: experience using or managing MongoDB, strong understanding of LDAP, Kerberos and Active Directory, distributed version control especially git, and Kubernetes or other orchestration using vendor enterprise operators.
MongoDB states the ramp: in 3 months a deep understanding of MongoDB and its partner ecosystem plus new hire training, by 6 months working frontline with customers and partners and completing the Certified DBA Associate exam, and by 12 months acting as a technical specialist handling escalations independently.
Location is Bengaluru, hybrid, and MongoDB states it wants candidates based there.
Good fit if you are a systems or database engineer who likes diagnosis. Not a fit if you have no production database background.
