About this role

MongoDB's Infrastructure Engineering team builds the internal developer platform that every other engineering team at the company uses to deploy and run its own production services. That makes this a platform engineering job in the strict sense: your users are engineers, and success is measured in their productivity rather than end user features. The stack is stated openly and is unusually current: Go, AWS, Kubernetes, Crossplane, Terraform, Helm, Drone, Prometheus and Grafana, with the team describing itself as open source enthusiasts who contribute upstream where they can. One requirement stands out and is worth reading twice: they ask for demonstrable experience working with AI coding agents, specifically building good context to get good output, which is still rare to see written into a requirement list.

Who this is for

MongoDB publishes no years of experience figure on this posting, so none has been recorded here rather than guessing a number. The seniority signal is the title (Senior) and the requirement to have designed and implemented medium to large software projects.

Required: having built and operated large scale distributed systems in cloud providers, with AWS strongly preferred; a strong backend programming background with fluency in Go strongly preferred, though deep experience in another compiled or strongly typed language is acceptable; experience working with AI coding agents and the ability to demonstrate building high quality context for high quality output; experience designing and implementing medium to large projects including driving design reviews and mentoring less senior engineers; strong experience operating production Kubernetes clusters rather than only deploying to them; practical experience defining and working against SLIs and SLOs for services you owned; strong experience with observability tooling covering metrics, logging, traces, Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry; strong Linux and TCP/IP networking skills; familiarity with standard authentication protocols such as OAuth and OIDC; and familiarity with web services or Kubernetes controller development.

Location is Gurugram and MongoDB states plainly that it is looking for candidates based there for its hybrid working model.

Good fit if you are a Go backend engineer who genuinely enjoys platform work and has operated Kubernetes in production. Not a fit if you are not in or moving to Gurugram.
