The University of Mumbai declared the MA Psychology Semester 4 result (NEP 2020) on 24 September 2026. It covers the regular exam held in May 2026. We went through all 106 student records in the official result and counted.
5 of the 106 students failed. That is 4.7%. Last year, 9 of 108 failed.
93 students passed. 7 cleared every paper but have no final result yet. 1 was absent.
Each square is one student. 93 passed, 7 have their result held (RLE), 5 failed and 1 was absent.
The fail count is not the most striking number, though. This batch wrote 424 theory papers between them. Only one came back with an O grade.

Most of the failures were close. 3 of the 5 students who failed were stopped by a single paper.
Fewer students failed than last year

The pass rate rose by 9 points, from 78.7% to 87.7%. Held results fell by half. Both years, the result came out in late September, about four months after the May exam.
Marks were lost in the University exam, not in internals
Each theory paper has two halves, each out of 50. The internal half is assessed by your department or college. The external half is the University's written exam. You need at least 20 in each half to pass.
In this batch, the two halves look very different:

Internal marks ran about 6 higher per paper. Students scored 40 or more in an internal 97 times, and in the external only 21 times. Of the 9 marks that stayed below the pass line, 7 were in the external exam.
If you write Semester 4 next year, the external exam is where your result will be decided.
Cultural Psychology tripped the most students
All 106 students wrote Cultural Psychology. In its external exam, 7 of them scored below 20 out of 50. Grace marks of 1 to 5 carried 4 of those 7 over the line. The other 3 failed the paper.
Its external average, 27.7 out of 50, was the lowest of the three theory papers that every student writes.

"Not cleared" counts a fail or an absence in that paper. CBT and REBT is left out because only one student wrote it this year. Last year 28 did, and it had that year's lowest external average: 23.5 out of 50.
One O grade in 424 theory papers
O is the top grade. It needs 90 or more out of 100 in a paper. Across the 424 theory papers this batch wrote, one reached it, in Career Counselling and World of Work.
The most common theory grade was B+, which means 60 to 69 out of 100. It was given 176 times.
Last year was stricter still: 432 theory papers, and not a single O.
The top grades sit in the research dissertation. 13 students got an O for it this year. For 6 of them, it took 1 to 3 grace marks to reach the O.
Among the 93 who passed, the highest overall score across all four semesters was 78.04%. Nobody reached 80%. 7 students finished at 75% or above, and the middle of the batch finished at 66.9%.
7 students passed every paper and still have no result
7 students cleared all five Semester 4 papers. Their result still reads RLE, not PASS.
RLE means the result is held in reserve. The usual reasons are an earlier exam that is not cleared or not on record, or an eligibility document the University is still waiting for. On this result, each of the 7 has at least one earlier semester with no total printed against it.
Last year, 14 students were in the same spot, and all 14 had cleared every Semester 4 paper too.
If your result says RLE: take copies of all your earlier marksheets and your eligibility documents to your department or college exam section, and ask what is pending. You cleared this semester. Something from before it is holding the result back.
28 passes are provisional
28 of the 93 passes carry the remark RPV. The result's own key defines RPV as provisional. If yours says RPV, ask your college what is still pending, before you need the marksheet for a job or an admission.

Both centres averaged almost the same in the University's external exam: 29.5 and 29.8 out of 50. With batches this small, two or three results can move a pass rate by several points.
If you failed
A fail in Semester 4 does not end the degree. Two routes are open.
- Revaluation. When we compared 17,446 revaluation records from Mumbai University first year engineering exams, more than 1 in 4 students who applied with a fail came out passing, and almost nobody lost marks. - The supplementary exam. Last year's batch had one. The University declared its MA Psychology Semester 4 supplementary result on 9 January 2026. Ask your department when this year's forms open.
Most of the 5 who failed missed by one paper. One paper is a fixable problem.
How we counted
Our source is the University of Mumbai's official result for MA Psychology Semester 4 (NEP 2020), programme code 3230561, declared on 24 September 2026, and last year's result for the same exam, dated 26 September 2025. Both are public on mumresults.in. You can open this year's official result PDF yourself.
We read every student record, added up each student's internal and external marks, and checked the sums against the University's own totals. All 214 records across the two years matched once grace marks were counted.
We have not named any student, printed a seat number, or shown any one student's marks. This is a story about a batch, not about a person.
