The MHT-CET syllabus fits on one page. The CET Cell says the paper covers the whole Std XII state board syllabus, and from Std XI it names exactly ten chapters per subject. Nothing else from Std XI is on the list.
The CET Cell had not published its 2027 syllabus document on 17 October 2026. The latest one is the MHT-CET 2026 syllabus and marking scheme, dated November 2025. Everything below is from that document, and from the state board's own Std XI and Std XII textbooks, so you can see every chapter by name. We will update this page when the 2027 document is out.
The short answer
- Std XII: the whole state board syllabus for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Every chapter counts.
- Std XI: only the chapters the CET Cell names. That is 10 for Physics, 10 for Chemistry and 10 for Maths.
- Weightage: about 20% Std XI and 80% Std XII. In each subject, 10 questions come from Std XI and 40 from Std XII.
- Board: the syllabus prescribed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Maharashtra. The textbooks are the Balbharati books you already use.
- Chapter-wise weightage: the CET Cell does not publish one. Any chapter-wise table you see is somebody's estimate.
The rules, in the CET Cell's own terms
The 2026 document sets out the syllabus in a few numbered points. In plain words:
- Questions are based on the syllabus of the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Maharashtra.
- About 20% of the weight goes to the Std XI curriculum and 80% to Std XII.
- Questions are set on the whole Std XII syllabus of 2025-26, and on the Std XI syllabus of 2024-25 as listed in the document.
The same document gives the question count for each part:
| Subject | Std XI questions | Std XII questions | Marks per question | Total marks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mathematics | 10 | 40 | 2 | 100 |
| Physics | 10 | 40 | 1 | 50 |
| Chemistry | 10 | 40 | 1 | 50 |
So Std XI is worth 40 of the 200 marks: 20 from Maths, 10 from Physics and 10 from Chemistry. Std XII is worth the other 160.
Std XI: the chapters on the CET list
The CET Cell names topics, not textbook chapter numbers. Below, each name is matched to the chapter of the state board Std XI textbook (English medium) where it is taught, and then the chapters the list leaves out.
Std XI Physics
| On the CET list | Where it is in the Std XI textbook |
|---|---|
| Vectors | Chapter 2, Mathematical Methods (the vector sections) |
| Error Analysis | Chapter 1, Units and Measurements (section 1.8, Errors in Measurements) |
| Motion in a Plane | Chapter 3 |
| Laws of Motion | Chapter 4 |
| Gravitation | Chapter 5 |
| Thermal Properties of Matter | Chapter 7 |
| Sound | Chapter 8 |
| Optics | Chapter 9 |
| Electrostatics | Chapter 10 |
| Semiconductors | Chapter 14 |
Not on the list: Chapter 6, Mechanical Properties of Solids; Chapter 11, Electric Current Through Conductors; Chapter 12, Magnetism; Chapter 13, Electromagnetic Waves and Communication System. The list also names only error analysis from Chapter 1 and only vectors from Chapter 2, so the calculus section of Chapter 2 is not named. Units and dimensions are not named either, but you will use them in every numerical anyway.
Std XI Chemistry
| On the CET list | Where it is in the Std XI textbook |
|---|---|
| Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry | Chapter 1 |
| Structure of Atom | Chapter 4 |
| Chemical Bonding | Chapter 5 |
| Redox Reactions | Chapter 6 |
| Elements of Group 1 and 2 | Chapter 8 |
| States of Matter (Gaseous and Liquids) | Chapter 10 |
| Adsorption and Colloids (Surface Chemistry) | Chapter 11 |
| Basic Principles of Organic Chemistry | Chapter 14 |
| Hydrocarbons | Chapter 15 |
| Chemistry in Everyday Life | Chapter 16 |
Not on the list: Chapter 2, Introduction to Analytical Chemistry; Chapter 3, Some Analytical Techniques; Chapter 7, Modern Periodic Table; Chapter 9, Elements of Group 13, 14 and 15; Chapter 12, Chemical Equilibrium; Chapter 13, Nuclear Chemistry and Radioactivity.
Std XI Mathematics
Std XI Maths comes in two books, Part I and Part II.
| On the CET list | Where it is in the Std XI textbook |
|---|---|
| Trigonometry II | Part I, Chapter 3 |
| Straight Line | Part I, Chapter 5 |
| Circle | Part I, Chapter 6 |
| Conic Sections | Part I, Chapter 7 |
| Probability | Part I, Chapter 9 |
| Complex Numbers | Part II, Chapter 1 |
| Permutations and Combinations | Part II, Chapter 3 |
| Functions | Part II, Chapter 6 |
| Limits | Part II, Chapter 7 |
| Continuity | Part II, Chapter 8 |
Not on the list: from Part I, Angle and its Measurement, Trigonometry I, Determinants and Matrices, and Measures of Dispersion; from Part II, Sequences and Series, Methods of Induction and Binomial Theorem, Sets and Relations, and Differentiation.
Not on the list does not mean useless
Some unlisted chapters hold up listed ones. Angle measurement and Trigonometry I are the base of Trigonometry II, which is on the list. Std XI Differentiation is not listed, but Std XII Differentiation is tested in full and starts from the same rules. Std XI Determinants and Matrices is not listed, but Std XII Matrices is. Skip the unlisted chapters as exam topics, not as background.

What about chapter-wise weightage?
Many sites print a weightage table chapter by chapter. The CET Cell does not publish one. Its document gives the split by subject and by standard, and nothing finer. A chapter table is someone's count of past papers, which is a guess about the next paper, not a rule for it.
The official numbers already tell you something useful. Std XII Physics has 40 questions across 16 chapters, which is 2.5 questions per chapter on average. Std XII Chemistry is the same. Std XII Maths has 40 questions across 15 chapters, about 2.7 per chapter, and at 2 marks each that is more than 5 marks per chapter on average. With numbers like these, dropping a whole Std XII chapter is a real loss.
Std XI is thinner: 10 questions across 10 listed chapters, about one each. That is why the list matters. It tells you which Std XI chapters to revise and which to leave alone.
Will the 2027 syllabus be different?
We do not know yet, and nobody does until the CET Cell publishes. Two things are worth knowing while you wait.
First, the 2026 document ties the paper to Std XII of 2025-26 and Std XI of 2024-25. A 2027 document would be expected to name the following years, so read the new document's Std XI list carefully when it arrives, in case a chapter is added or removed.
Second, the state textbook bureau's e-library, which lists books by syllabus year, lists the same Std XI and Std XII Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics textbooks for 2026, and the copies it serves are reprints from 2022. On that evidence the textbooks have not changed. We will check the 2027 document against this page the day it appears.
How to use this list
- Std XII first, all of it. It is 160 of the 200 marks, and your board exams cover the same syllabus.
- Std XI from the list only. Make a sheet of the 30 listed chapters and tick them off. Revise the base chapters behind them only as far as you need them.
- Watch Maths most. Maths is half the paper at 100 of 200 marks. See the MHT-CET marking scheme for why.
- Practise mixed papers. In the exam, chapters come mixed, and Physics and Chemistry share one 90 minute half. Our guide to the 90 plus 90 minutes explains the clock.
- Keep an eye on the dates. Our MHT-CET 2027 exam date page tracks what is confirmed and what is only reported. If you are also preparing for JEE Main, our MHT-CET vs JEE Main comparison shows where the two syllabuses part ways.
Where these facts come from
- CET Syllabus and its Marking Scheme, MHT-CET 2026, State CET Cell, Maharashtra, dated November 2025 (cetcell.mahacet.org, file Syllabus-Technical-2026.pdf, a scanned document): the 20 and 80 split, the question counts, "whole syllabus of Std XII of 2025-26", and the Std XI chapter list, read off the scan on 17 October 2026.
- MHT-CET 2026 Information Brochure, State CET Cell: 1 mark per Physics and Chemistry question, 2 marks per Maths question.
- State board textbooks, Maharashtra State Bureau of Textbook Production and Curriculum Research, Pune, English medium, from its e-library (books.ebalbharati.in, syllabus year 2026), read on 17 October 2026: Std XII Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and Statistics (Arts and Science) Part I and Part II; Std XI Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and Statistics (Arts and Science) Part I and Part II. Chapter names are copied from each book's contents page. The matching of CET topics to textbook chapters is ours.
