Last checked: 17 October 2026. The State CET Cell has not published the MHT-CET 2027 exam dates. Nothing on its website gives a date for either attempt. What you have read elsewhere comes from news reports, and those reports have already changed once.
This page keeps the two apart. Official facts are marked official. Reported facts are marked reported, with who reported them and when. We will update the page the day the CET Cell publishes the 2027 schedule.
The short answer
- Official 2027 dates: none yet. The CET Cell had published no MHT-CET 2027 schedule on 17 October 2026.
- Reported first attempt: around March 2027, after the Class 12 board exams. This is the latest report, dated 9 October 2026.
- Reported second attempt: around May 2027, about four weeks after the first.
- Is MHT-CET in December 2026? Not on the latest reports. An earlier plan for a December 2026 to January 2027 first attempt was reported in September and replaced in October. Neither plan was ever official.
- What is official: the 2026 pattern, which the CET Cell published for the exam held in April and May 2026. The 2027 pattern document is not out yet.

What the CET Cell has actually published
On 17 October 2026 we read the notices on the CET Cell's website, cetcell.mahacet.org. The newest MHT-CET notices are the 2026 result summaries, posted in June 2026.
Only one notice mentions 2027 at all. Dated 2 October 2026, it invites subject experts to apply for question paper setting and review for MAH-CET for the academic year 2027-28. That tells you the work on the 2027 papers has started. It does not give a date, a month or a registration window.
So if a website shows you an exact MHT-CET 2027 date today, ask where it came from. The CET Cell has not put one out.
What has been reported, in order
The story so far has two versions. Here they are in the order they appeared.
September 2026: a December first attempt
On 18 September 2026, Careers360 reported that the CET Cell might hold the first attempt in December 2026. It quoted an official who was not named, saying the Cell was aiming for December but nothing was final. Physics Wallah's MHT-CET 2027 page listed an expected first attempt between 15 December 2026 and 15 January 2027, with the second attempt in April 2027. That page now carries the October update as well.
That plan was never published by the CET Cell. It was a report of an aim.
9 October 2026: both attempts after the board exams
On 9 October 2026, several education news sites, among them Physics Wallah, CollegeDekho and Careers360, reported a change. According to them, the state's Higher and Technical Education Department decided to hold both attempts after the Class 12 board exams. The reports put both attempts between March and May 2027, with a gap of about four weeks, and said the better score of the two would be used for admission.
The reports said the change followed feedback from parents, counsellors and educationists, who felt a December attempt sat too close to board exam preparation. They attributed it to officials. None of them pointed to a published CET Cell notice, and later updates on 12 to 14 October still said the official timetable was awaited.
So the March to May window is the most recent report. It is not yet an official date.
Why a March start fits the board calendar
This part is context, not a CET Cell statement. News reports in September 2026 said the Maharashtra State Board plans its Class 12 practical exams from 20 January to 6 February 2027, and its theory exams from 8 February to 16 March 2027. Check the board's own subject-wise timetable when it is out.
If those dates hold, a December CET would have landed a few weeks before practicals began. A first attempt after mid March would come after your last board paper. That is the reasoning the October reports describe.
What 2026 looked like, for scale
The 2027 schedule is unknown, but the 2026 one is official, and it shows the shape of a CET year. These dates are from the CET Cell's final extension notice of 20 February 2026 and the MHT-CET 2026 Information Brochure.

In 2026, a candidate could sit one attempt or both, and the brochure says the best of the two total percentile scores counts for admission. The best is taken from the total percentile only, not subject by subject.
Our estimate, labelled as one: if the 2027 first attempt opens in March as reported, the CET year runs roughly three to four weeks earlier than 2026, when the first attempt opened on 11 April.
What to do while the dates are unknown
You cannot plan to a date nobody has published. You can plan to the earliest reported one.
- Work to mid March 2027. Treat the reported March first attempt as your deadline. If the real date comes later, you gain revision time. If you plan for May and the exam comes in March, you lose two months.
- Let the board exams carry Std XII. About 80% of the CET is Std XII, and your board preparation covers the same state board syllabus. The CET's Std XI part is only ten named chapters per subject. Our guide to the MHT-CET PCM syllabus lists every one.
- Learn the clock now. The paper is two locked halves of 90 minutes. Physics and Chemistry come first and close on their own. Maths opens only after that. Our guide to using the 90 plus 90 minutes explains why that changes how you practise.
- Know the marking. There is no negative marking in the 2026 scheme, so a blank answer is a lost chance. See the MHT-CET marking scheme for what that means for guessing.
- Get your documents ready early. In 2026 the CET Cell asked candidates who had no APAAR ID to create one through DigiLocker. That was the 2026 rule. If 2027 keeps it, doing it before registration opens saves a last minute scramble.
- Watch one website. Registration and dates will be announced on cetcell.mahacet.org. Coaching sites and news sites, including this one, are second hand.
If you are also taking JEE Main
The National Testing Agency had not published JEE Main 2027 dates on 17 October 2026 either. For 2026, its bulletin set Session 1 between 21 and 30 January 2026 and Session 2 between 2 and 9 April 2026. If 2027 follows a similar calendar and the CET moves to March as reported, the two exams could fall within weeks of each other. That is an estimate, not a schedule. How this page will be updated
When the CET Cell publishes the MHT-CET 2027 schedule, we will replace the reported rows in the status board with the official dates, and add the notice number and its date so you can check it yourself. Until then, every 2027 date on this page stays marked as reported.
