B.E. (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science) Indian Knowledge System Syllabus - Mumbai University 2026

This is the FY BE AI and DS syllabus under NEP 2020, in force from the academic year 2024-25. The third and fourth years of this degree are still taught on the earlier CBCS REV-2019 'C' Scheme, because the University has published no NEP syllabus for Semesters V to VIII of any engineering branch.

Semester 2 · FY BE AI and DS · NEP 2020

Module I: Introduction to the Indian Knowledge System (I.K.S.) 3 hours

  • ● Basic knowledge and scope of IKS ● IKS in ancient India and modern India, ● Bhartiya education system – ancient to modern era, ● Sources of Education, Aim of Education, Curriculum, methods of learning, ● Educational Institutes, Higher Educational Institutions, ● Advantages and Disadvantages of the Gurukul System, ● Distinguish between the Gurukul system And the Modern Education System

Module II: Development of Scientific Thoughts in Ancient India 4 hours

  • ● Development in Science, Technology, Astronomy, Mathematics, and Life Sciences – Life Science, Physiology, Ayurveda, etc.

Module III: Development of Arts & Culture in India 5 hours

  • ● Introduction to Ancient Architecture (Arts, Forts, Paintings, Sculpture, Temple architecture, etc) ● Development in performing arts & culture: Music, Art of singing, Art of dancing, Natyakala Cultural traditions and Folk arts

Module IV: Good Governance in Ancient India 5 hours

  • ● Introduction to Indian religions ● Moral and Ethical Governance ● Vishva Kalyan through Vasudhaiva Kutumbkam ● Principles of Good Governance about Ramayana, Mahabharat, Artha Sastra and Kauṭilyan State

Module V: Contribution of Indian Scientist & Nobel Laureates 5 hours

  • ● Baudhayan, Aryabhatta, Brahmgupta, Bhaskaracharya, Varahamihira, Nagarjuna, Susruta, Kanada & Charak ● Rabindranath Tagore, C.V. Raman, Har Gobind Khorana, Mother Teresa, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, Amartya Sen, V.S. Naipaul, Venkatraman
  • Ramakrishnan, Kailash Satyarthi and Abhijit Banerjee

Module VI: Sustainable Practices in Ancient India 4 hours

  • ● Agriculture, waste management, water conservation, forest conservation, architecture, urban planning, biodiversity preservation, etc ● Yoga, pranayama, and meditation for health and well-being
