About this role
SingleStore builds a distributed SQL database, and this role is on a greenfield project: building its next generation private cloud infrastructure to bring workloads currently running on public cloud in house. The scale figure in the posting is worth quoting because it makes the problem concrete. The existing deployment runs the database test system, which executes over 7.25 million tests a month and writes petabytes to storage daily, and it is being scaled several times over in the next year alone. The work is deliberately low level: virtualization, storage, kernel development, service modelling and API generation, or high performance computing, in C, C++ or Go with Python or Bash alongside. Five years of systems software work. A rare greenfield infrastructure seat.
Who this is for

- At least 5 years of experience developing and optimizing systems software.
- Deep expertise, meaning you can speak to both system level design and implementation detail, in at least one of: virtualization, storage, service modelling and REST API or SDK generation, scientific or high performance computing, or kernel development.

- Familiarity with, or interest in, SingleStore or other distributed SQL databases.
Day to day: designing and developing major infrastructure components with a focus on fault tolerance and performance; owning your systems end to end from design to production; working closely with other teams on integration and operation; and driving continuous improvement in system reliability and usability.
