Bachelor of Performing Arts (Music - Hindustani Tabla) Practical Paper Concert Performance Syllabus - Mumbai University

This is the NEP 2020 syllabus for B.P.A. (Music - Hindustani Tabla), in force from the academic year 2025-26. Semesters I to IV are set by University circular item 8.17 (R) of 20 May 2025 and Semesters V and VI by item 8.49 (N) of the same date; the Semester III Field Project is set separately, by item 8.1 (N) 1.5(b) of 15 July 2025. Course Objectives

  • To understand & appreciate the facets of improvisation.
  • Ability to perform traditional solo with excellent competence.
  • To enable the students to improve the performing skills.
  • To understand and appreciation Indian Knowledge System.

Course Outcomes

By the end of the module, students should be able to:

  • Inspire to perform solo in maifil recital
  • They should understand & appreciate the facets of improvisation.
  • They should be able to perform expandable and non-expandable compositions with Padhant.
  • They should be able to understand & appreciate the facets of Lay, Tala and tonal quality.

Module 1: Solo performance in Teental which includes traditional compositions learnt in Semester I and II

Module 2: Solo performance in Jhaptal which includes traditional compositions learnt in Semester I and II
