Syllabus for Legal Aspects of Business
Course objectives
- 1 To familiarize students with key legal concepts and regulatory frameworks affecting business operations in India.
- 2 To explain statutory provisions of contract law, company law, consumer law, and financial regulations through real-life business examples.
- 3 To cultivate students’ ability to apply legal reasoning to resolve disputes, ensure compliance, and support decision-making.
- 4 To encourage critical analysis of laws impacting governance, stakeholder protection, and business ethics.
- 5 To sensitize students to the role of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in protecting innovation and sustaining competitive advantage.
Course outcomes
- CO1: Understand the key concepts, definitions, and legal provisions relevant to Indian business laws including contracts, companies, consumers, finance, and IPR.
- CO2: Interpret and explain the structure, functions, and procedural aspects of various business law statutes and their relevance to business practice.
- CO3: Apply relevant legal principles to real-world business situations for decision-making, compliance, and dispute resolution.
- CO4: Analyze legal frameworks governing different aspects of business operations such as contract formation, company management, consumer rights, and financial instruments.
- CO5: Evaluate the effectiveness and implications of business laws in ensuring ethical governance, protecting stakeholders, and safeguarding intellectual property.
