Module I: Fundamentals of Textile Testing and Dimensional Properties of Yarn

and Fabrics

Textile testing: concept, scope and importance
Sampling and sampling methods
Textile and moisture relationship
B Standard testing procedures to test yarn dimensions
Yarn count
Yarn twist
C Standard testing procedures to test fabric dimensions (woven, knitted
and non – woven)
Length, width, fabric count
Fabric weight and thickness
Air permeability and water permeability
Dimensional stability
Wrinkle resistance and crease recovery
Abrasion resistance and pilling resistance
Fabric stiffness and drapability
Flammability

Module II: Strength Testing of Textiles and Advances in Textile Testing

A Strength testing parameters
Definitions of stress, strain, initial modulus, elasticity, yield point
Standard testing procedures to test strength parameters of fibres, yarns and fabrics (woven, knitted and non – woven) with the principle, construction and working of machines.
Elmendorf tear strength tester with principle, construction and working
Bursting strength testing instruments with their working principle, construction and working.

Module III: Apparel Export Management and Trade Documentation

A Export merchandising: Meaning, Importance to the economic development
B Apparel Foreign Trade: Introduction to Foreign Trade, Domestic and International Trade Regulations
C Introduction to Export Documentation: Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, export license, insurance documents and certificates, Bill of Material FOB, C&F, CIF, Letter of credit, Tech-pack interpretation and updating
D Introduction to time and action plan: Description of TNA, Advantage, Importance of TNA
E Introduction to merchandise calendar

Module IV: Export Inspection, Payment Methods and EXIM Procedures

A Introduction of Inspection reports: Types of inspection reports, Advantages, Concepts of order processing, Production updates, Shipping updates
B Export payments: Clean payment, advance payment, open account, Payment collection of bills – documents against payment, documents against acceptance, letter of credit – revocable and irrevocable, confirmed L/C.
C Export-Import policy: Objectives and policy highlights. EXIM bank – management and functions, Role of Bank in foreign trade transactions, buying and selling of foreign exchange.
D Customs Declarations: Definitions, import/export declarations documents: Description of the goods, value, quantity, weight, and relevant customs codes, customs clearance, and compliance with import/export regulations.
