Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) Syllabus - Mumbai University

This is the syllabus under the University of Mumbai’s Credit Based Semester and Grading System, in force from the academic year 2015-16. It is the syllabus currently examined: the University set this course on it in the Winter 2025 and Summer 2026 examinations — its own timetables head them “B.P.Ed. (CBSGS) (2 Years Course)” — and it has published no revision.

This is the B.P.Ed. — the Bachelor of Physical Education, which prepares teachers of physical education. It runs two years and four semesters under the University’s Credit Based Semester and Grading System. ⛔ It is not the B.Ed., which is a different degree in a different faculty with its own syllabus.

The University examines this degree by semester, so this tree runs year, then semester, then subject — the same shape as the B.Ed. and the law degrees. The year level is the University’s own: its credit structure is headed “B. P. Ed (First Year) Semester I” and “B. P. Ed (Second Year) Semester III”.

In Semester I you take one Methodology of Teaching paper, chosen from seven: Marathi, Hindi, English, History, Geography, Science or Mathematics. All seven are the University’s Course III and it sets one syllabus for each, so each has its own page here. In Semester III every student takes Methodology of Teaching Physical Education, which is a separate paper.

The University’s credit structure also sets six practical courses — Physical Education Activities in every semester, and Practice Teaching and Internship in Semesters II and IV — which carry 13 of each semester’s 22 credits. It publishes an internal assessment procedure for them rather than a syllabus: its own sentence is “The following shall be the Syllabi for the various theory Courses of Semester I, II, III and IV.” They are assessed by the college and carry no University question paper, so there is no syllabus page for them here; they are set out in the complete document below.

The University sets the Marathi and Hindi Methodology papers in Devanagari, in a legacy font whose characters cannot be extracted faithfully. Those two pages carry the University’s own PDF and no typed-out text, because setting them out with the wrong characters would put words on the page that the University did not print.
