B.F.A. (Textile Design) Design Execution and Application Syllabus - Mumbai University 2026

This is the University of Mumbai syllabus for B.F.A. (Textile Design), Circular No. UG/210 of 2004 dated 28 May 2004 (Ordinances 5331 to 5337, Regulations 4569 to 4591), in force from the academic year 2004-2005. Its Final Year ordinance, O.5336, was re-issued by Circular No. UG/353 of 2008; no circular has changed a subject of this branch. It is still the scheme examined: the University set the Summer 2026 papers on it, and has published no later B.F.A. syllabus. The Third Year B.F.A. examination is conducted by the college recognised by the University of Mumbai, not by the University itself.

Third Year B.F.A. · Group II (Practicals) · 340 hours a year · 6 assignments · 30-hour paper · 40 + 60 = 100 marks

The University prints this subject as “Design (Execution / Application)”, numbered 6 in the Third Year B.F.A. syllabus.

MU heads this block "Design (Execution / Application)". The address spells the slash out because a path segment cannot carry one; the heading, the title and the text on this page are hers. MU prints "Badford card" here and "Bedford cord" in this year’s Technique paper on the same page; each block carries its own page’s print.

Group II (Practicals) Studio Practicals per Academic Year: 340 hours

  • a) Practicals in preparing screens, Printing fabrics cotton, silk and other synthetics fibre-fabrics. Fixing the prints methods-direct, and resist printing. (b) Practicals in exploring possibilities of weaves. Realization of Visualized design concept, dress materials, Badford card, Crepe and double cloth etc.

Cut from the University of Mumbai syllabus for B.F.A. (Textile Design), Circular No. UG/210 of 2004, page 17 of that syllabus. Wording, spelling and numbering are as printed there. The University sets no reading list for this course.
