This is the University of Mumbai syllabus for B.F.A. (Sculpture), Circular No. UG/210 of 2004 dated 28 May 2004 (Ordinances 5324 to 5330, Regulations 4545 to 4568), in force from the academic year 2004-2005. Circular No. UG/353 of 2008 amended the Final Year ordinance, O.5329, and changed no subject. It is still the scheme examined: the University set the Summer 2026 papers on it — History of Art (83301) and Aesthetics (83302) in the Second Year, History of Art (83401) in the Final Year — and has published no later B.F.A. syllabus. The Final Year B.F.A. examination is conducted by the University of Mumbai, on exam form 4O02424.

Syllabus for Portrait sculpture OR Monumental sculpture
The University prints this subject as “Portrait sculpture / Monumental sculpture”, numbered 5 in the Final Year B.F.A. syllabus.
One examined paper offering a choice of two. MU’s scheme of papers prints it as “Portrait OR Monumental Sculpture” and her Education Pattern table as “Portrait/Monumental Sculpture”; each alternative carries the same 325 hours, 6 assignments and 30-hour examination.
Group II (Practicals) Studio Practicals per Academic Year: 325 hours
- Portrait sculpture
- Students will study to explore portrait sculpture by giving stress on character of the sister, environment, methods in application techniques. Total 3 diametrical organization in space and expression of the artist and various textural effect should be studied in relation with the light and shade fallen on the 3D structural sense of organization. It should adopt in relation with the medium which is suitable for final transformation of bust or full figure i.e. bronze, stone, terracotta, etc.

- Monumental sculpture
- Place of Sculpture in Architecture and monumental study of the element of Architecture and Sculpture and there relationship exploring and possibilities of a material for monumental Sculpture. Designing should be suitable to the environment and subject matter of monument. Designing should be from aesthetical point of view and based on architectural principles (structural principles). Various technical aspects regarding surface treatment should be studied properly.
