This is the University of Mumbai syllabus for B.F.A. (Interior Decoration), Circular No. UG/210 of 2004 dated 28 May 2004 (Ordinance 5338), in force from the academic year 2004-2005 and amended for the Final Year practicals by Circular No. UG/352 of 2008. It is still the scheme examined: the University set the Summer 2026 papers on it, and has published no later B.F.A. syllabus. The Second Year B.F.A. examination is conducted by the University of Mumbai, on exam form 4O02452.

Syllabus for History of Art
Group I (Theory) Lectures per Academic Year: 100 hours
- Concept of Interior Design, why a knowledge of its past is essential, study of Ancient Civilizations (Interiors’ Furniture design), Western :- Egypt, Crete, Mycenea, Greece, Rome & Byxantine Mesopotamia & Persia, India :- Indus Valley, Town Planning, Interiors as seen in Ajanta paintings (Gupta - Inter & Furniture), Also a basic understanding of various techniques of decoration including bidri work, inlay work on metal wood etc., Sandal wood carving etc.
