This is the University of Mumbai syllabus for the B.F.A. (Applied Art), the Revised Course approved under Item No. 4.30 and in force from the academic year 2004-2005. It is old, and it is current: the University still examines this scheme, and the subjects below are the ones set in its Summer 2026 examinations. It is the only B.F.A. (Applied Art) syllabus the University has published.

What the University sets
- Studio Practicals per Academic Year: 120 Hours
- paper: 80 Marks. Duration: 5 Hours
- Assignments per Academic Year: 12 Term Work: 20 Marks
What is taught
- Detailed structural study of Human Figure in full and in part - Study of Human Anatomy - Head Study - Study of Shade and Light on Human Body - Drawing line and mass
- Study of body postures and actions - Facial Expressions - Hand Gestures - hand gestures with added props - adding and related background from the study done outdoor sketching Medium: Pencil, Ink and Colour (Water Colour, Poster Colour). Understanding different rendering techniques
- Sketching from Surrounding - Outdoor and indoor studies - including Human Figures - Natural and manmade objects - Animals, Birds, Nature - Landscapes Buildings - Monuments - Public Places - Architecture - Study of perspective Mediums: Pencil, Pen and ink, Crayon, Char¢oal, Pastels, Colours etc
Term work
Term Work shall consist of at least 12 assignments covering the given syllabus, duly erformed, completed and oraded, carrying @ weightage of 20 marks. Student must gain at least 40% of the total marks allotted for the Term Work of the academic year, in order to make him/her eligible to appear for the examination.
