Module 1: Adsorption Process: Adsorbent such as activated carbon, molecular printed in the syllabus as Module Course Contents

  • sieves of various types, activated alumina. Their characteristics and applications. Regeneration & activation of adsorbents. Thermal & pressure swing process. Fixed bed, moving bed, Design of adsorption column for separation and purification. Industrial examples and related numerical.

Module 2: Super critical extraction Working principle, advantages and printed in the syllabus as Module Course Contents

Module 3: Advanced distillation techniques printed in the syllabus as Module Course Contents

  • Molecular, reactive and extractive distillation techniques.

Module 4: Liquid Chromatographic Process: Basic concept of chromatography, printed in the syllabus as Module Course Contents

  • phenomena and characterization. Typical chromatographic separation systems for preparative chromatography. Applications of chromatography in enzymes and other Industrial separations.

Module 5: Membranes: Introduction to the membrane process, Characterization of printed in the syllabus as Module Course Contents

  • membranes: Characterization of porous membranes, characterization of ionic membranes, characterization of non-ionic membranes. Transport process in membrane driving force. Characteristic flux behavior in pressure driven membrane preparation, membrane fouling, methods to reduce fouling. Types of modules: plate and frame, spiral wound, tubular, capillary, hollow fibre modules and liquid membranes.
