This is the Fourth Year Biomedical Rev 2019 C Scheme syllabus under REV-2019 'C' Scheme, in force from the academic year 2022-23. The University has not yet published an NEP 2020 syllabus above Semester IV for this branch, and this is the scheme its examinations are set on.

Syllabus for IoT Based Systems (Abbreviated as IoT)

Semester 7 · Fourth Year Biomedical Rev 2019 C Scheme

Module 1: Introduction:

  • History of IoT, Objects in IoT, Identifier in the IoT, Technologies in IoT. What are wireless sensors, Sensor family, Architecture of single node sensor.

Module 2: IoT schemes and models:

  • Block diagram of an IoT device (node), characteristics of IoT, functional blocks of IoT, communication models. IoT levels and deployment templates. IoT enabling technologies.

Module 3: IoT stack:

  • M2M stack and examples, IoT stack and examples, IoT stack variants, difference between IoT and M2M. IoT Access Technologies: Physical and MAC layers, IEEE 802.15.4, 802.15.4g, 802.15.4e, 1901.2a, 802.11 and LoRaWAN.

Module 4: Network and Communication Aspects:

  • Network Layer Protocols: IPv4 and IPv6, Constrained nodes and Constrained networks Optimizing IP for IoT: From 6LoWPAN to 6Lo, routing over low power and lossy networks. Application Layer Protocols: CoAP and MQTT.

Module 5: Components of IoT:

  • IoT platform design methodology. IoT end device computing –boards based on microcontroller and SoC. Sensor technologies, sensor data communication protocols: UART, SPI, I2C.

Module 6: IoT Case Studies:

  • Home automation, smart cities, environment monitoring and control, agriculture, retail sector, healthcare and lifestyle, logistics and supply chain, access control and tracking.
