- a Nature and Goals of Psychological Research – Importance, types (qualitative vs. quantitative), and applications.
- b Sampling in Psychological Research – Population vs. sample, probability and non- probability sampling methods. Sample size.
- c Ethical Considerations in Research – APA guidelines, informed consent, confidentiality, and ethical dilemmas.
- d Writing Research Report: APA format (text, reference, graphs and tables).
Module 2: Basics Concepts in Psychological Research
- a Variables: Concept of variable. Types of variables (e.g., IV, DV, CV).
- b Hypothesis: Role of theory. Hypothesis and its characteristics.
- c Survey Designs: Correlational, and observational methods.
- d Experimental Designs: Experimental designs.
Module 3: Measures of Central Tendency and Variability
- a The importance of Measures of Central tendency. Characteristics of Mean.
- b Uses and Calculations: Mean, Median, and Mode.
- c The importance of Measures of Variability. Uses of Standard Deviation and Variance, Range, Quartile.
- d Z score and its usefulness. Calculation of Variance, SD and Z Score
Module 4: Graphical representation and interpretation of data: Normal Curve and other methods
- a Characteristics of a Normal distribution and normal curve. Plotting Z Score on normal curve.
- b Skewness and kurtosis of normal distribution. Box plot.
- c Line graph, Bar graph
- d Histogram, Pie Chart.
