Why this chapter exists
Thirteen registers taught one at a time look like thirteen unrelated forms. They are one system, and the way to see it is to take one week on one farm and follow it through every register it touches.
The week is Monday 9 November to Saturday 14 November 2026 on Shivneri Farm, and every specimen in the last thirteen chapters is a page of that week.
The week, as it happened
- Weeding continues on field 3, cotton.
- Irrigation continues on field 1, sugarcane, from well 1.
- Cane cutting begins on field 2.
- Cotton picking begins on field 4 on 10 November. First picking 42 kg on 10 November, 61 kg on 12 November, and the crop is carried to the store in lots.
- Rain from 2 p.m. on 11 November stops weeding. Sunita Mane is absent that day.
- Two bags of fertiliser arrive from Baramati on 12 November.
- The tractor is serviced on 13 November for Rs. 1,850.
- The Agricultural Officer visits on 14 November and advises spraying field 4.
- Rs. 25,000 is drawn from the bank on 9 November for the week's wages.
- Wages of Rs. 10,020 are paid on Saturday 14 November.

The overseer's diary notes on 12 November that two bags were received from Baramati and entered in the receipt register. It is the narrative that the goods came.
