Security Engineer II

Tekion builds a cloud native platform for car dealerships and manufacturers, and employs close to 3,000 people across North America, Asia and Europe. This is a mid level security engineering seat covering the practical half of the discipline: implementing and maintaining security tooling and access controls, running vulnerability scanning and remediation, taking part in incident detection and root cause analysis, and performing security assessments of applications, systems and cloud environments. Compliance work against SOC 2, ISO 27001 and NIST is part of it, as is threat modelling for new projects. The posting says the role works on moderately complex projects with minimal supervision, which is a fair description of a 4 to 6 year security engineer. Bengaluru. Required by the posting: a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering or a related field, with equivalent experience considered. 4 to 6 years of experience in security engineering, IT security or related roles. Strong understanding of network, application and cloud security principles. Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners and endpoint protection. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and their security services. Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks.

The real day to day: implementing, configuring and maintaining security tools, monitoring systems and access controls; supporting vulnerability management across scanning, analysis and remediation coordination; participating in incident detection, response and root cause analysis; working with Engineering and IT to embed security practices into development and infrastructure; helping maintain compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001 and NIST; performing security assessments and testing of applications, systems and cloud environments; contributing to threat modelling and risk assessments for new projects; creating security documentation, runbooks and knowledge bases; and providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

You touch tooling, vulnerability management, incident response, compliance and assessments, which is excellent for building range at this stage of a career but means you will not go deep in any single area quickly.
