Module I: Basics of Textile Design and Pattern Repeats
- A Fundamentals of Textile Design
- Elements of design: Line, Shape, Form, Texture, Space, Color
- Principles of design: Balance, Rhythm, Harmony, Contrast,
- Emphasis, Proportion
- Types of motifs: Natural, Geometric, Stylized, Abstract, Traditional
- Color theory: Color wheel, Color schemes, psychological effects of color
- Introduction to repeat patterns: Block, stripe repeat, check repeat, Half-drop, Mirror, Brick repeat, diamond repeat, ogee repeat, panel repeat, Border repeat, Interlocking Repeat, etc.

- A Textile Design Applications
- Traditional Indian textile designs and motifs
- Contemporary textile design trends
- Design development process
- Texture and surface ornamentation in textile design
