B.F.A. (Sculpture) Aesthetics Western Syllabus - Mumbai University

This is the University of Mumbai syllabus for B.F.A. (Sculpture), Circular No. UG/210 of 2004 dated 28 May 2004 (Ordinances 5324 to 5330, Regulations 4545 to 4568), in force from the academic year 2004-2005. Circular No. UG/353 of 2008 amended the Final Year ordinance, O.5329, and changed no subject. It is still the scheme examined: the University set the Summer 2026 papers on it — History of Art (83301) and Aesthetics (83302) in the Second Year, History of Art (83401) in the Final Year — and has published no later B.F.A. syllabus. The Third Year B.F.A. examination is conducted by the college recognised by the University of Mumbai, not by the University itself.

Syllabus for Aesthetics (Western)

Third Year B.F.A. · Group I (Theory) · 80 hours a year · 4 tutorials · 3-hour paper · 40 + 60 = 100 marks

The University prints this subject as “Aesthetics ( Western)”, numbered 2 in the Third Year B.F.A. syllabus.

MU’s Education Pattern table and her scheme of papers both print this subject as “Aesthetics”, without “( Western)”. She also prints “renaissance period to 29th century”, with a superscript “th”; every thinker she then names died before 1970, so the 29 is a slip for the 20th century. Her wording is kept as printed.
