B.F.A. (Painting) Print Making or Drawing Syllabus - Mumbai University

This is the University of Mumbai syllabus for the B.F.A. (Painting), the Revised Course in force from the academic year 2004-2005. It is still the current scheme: MU has never revised it, the University's own Faculty of Fine Art register still lists this degree as Ordinance O.5310 under Circular No. UG/210 of 2004, and the syllabus below is what MU's Summer 2026 examinations were set on.

Print Making

  • With the technical skills of dry point, etching, aquatint candidate should be able to make their own sketches and with knowledge should be able to express their thinking and concepts through proper selection of the technique of Printmaking. Prints in colour as well as black & white medium are expected from the candidate. They should have up to date knowledge and information about eminent print makers.

OR — Drawing

  • Candidates should be able to express their ideas and thinking either in realistic or creative manner through drawing. Proper rendering in pencil, pen & ink, charcoal, conte crayon, oil pastels, graphite, colour pencils, etc. can be used as per the choice of the candidate.

Studio Practicals per Academic Year : 250 Hours; Assignments per Academic Year : 4. Duration : 35 Hours; Paper : 90 marks; Term Work : 60 marks.
