This is the University of Mumbai syllabus for the B.F.A. (Applied Art), the Revised Course approved under Item No. 4.30 and in force from the academic year 2004-2005. It is old, and it is current: the University still examines this scheme, and the subjects below are the ones set in its Summer 2026 examinations. It is the only B.F.A. (Applied Art) syllabus the University has published.

Syllabus for Graphic Design
What the University sets
- Studio Practicals per Academic Year: 40 Hours
- Paper: Not for examination
- Assignments per Academic Year: 02
- Term Work: Term Work shall consist of at least 02 assignments covering the given
The focus
The assignments should be designed to encourage conceptual thinking and problem solving in context to design development
What is taught
- syllabus, duly performed, completed and graded
- The nature and scope for Graphic Design in the social communication for specific masses today
- Use of colour. Symbolic - Visibility aspect of colour
- Generating set of symbols for various purposes
- Corporate identity. Colour coding
- Application possibilities - in various sizes - on various surfaces - for various purposes --at various locations. 3D possibilities must be attempted
- Environmental graphics
Term work
Student must gain at least 40% of the total marks allotted for the Term Work of the academic year, in order make him/her eligible to appear for the examination.
