Module 1: Introduction & Approximations, Algebraic and Transcendental equations. printed in the syllabus as Module Detailed Content

  • Motivation and Applications Accuracy and precision; Truncation and round-off errors; Binary Number System; Error propagation, fixed point iteration method, Newton Raphson Method Applications in Chemical Engineering.

Module 2: Linear Systems and Equations printed in the syllabus as Module Detailed Content

  • Gauss Siedal, Gauss Jacobi method; Matrix Inversion; LU Decomposition; TDMA Method. (Numericals based on application in Chemical Engineering)

  • Numerical differentiation- method; error analysis; higher order formulae. (Numericals based on application in Chemical Engineering)
