Syllabus for Vehicle Body Engineering and Safety Lab

Semester 6 · Third Year AE · 1 credit

1. Structural analysis of Chassis Frame using any FEA Software’s for different sections (C section, I- section, L-section, O-section, Hat section, Tubular section). 2. Case study on crash test dummy.

  • 3. Comparison of two vehicles under same class based on overall design criteria and safety features. 4. Case study on tractive force analysis. 5. Case study on Centre of gravity calculation. 6. Case study on automotive standards (AIS, FMVSS, CMVR/CMVSS). (Perform any four experiments from the list)
  • B Mini Project Analysis of Chassis frame containing a 3D Model of any existing Automobile Chassis or Body or combination of both (Min 2 Max 4 Students per Group)
  • C Drawing sheet Three A2 size sheets based on

Module 1: Car body style

Module 2: Bus body style

Module 3: Commercial Vehicle body style

  • University of Mumbai , Rev 2019 65 The distribution of marks for term work shall be as follows: 1) Laboratory work (Experiments) : 05 marks 2) Mini project : 10 marks 3) Drawing sheets : 05 marks 4) Attendance (Theory and Practical) : 05 marks The final certification and acceptance of term work ensures the satisfactory performance of laboratory work and minimum passing in the term work. End Semester Practical/Oral Examination: 1. Pair of Internal and External Examiner should conduct practical/Oral based on contents Distribution of marks for practical/Oral examination shall be as follows: Practical performance 15 marks Oral 10 marks 2.
