About this role
Tekion builds cloud native software for car dealerships and manufacturers, covering retail, enterprise and partner systems on one platform, and employs close to 3,000 people across North America, Asia and Europe. This is a mid level test engineering role in Chennai, which matters because almost everything else on this board sits in Bangalore. You would design and maintain manual and automated tests across web, mobile, APIs and platform services, own defects through to resolution with the developers, and work inside a normal Agile cycle of sprint planning, stand ups and release readiness reviews. At 2 to 4 years it is the second lowest experience bar in today's edition, and the posting expects you to be able to run routine testing independently rather than waiting to be told what to check.
Who this is for
Asks for a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related technical field, and 2 to 4 years in software testing, quality assurance or software development. Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle, the software testing lifecycle and Agile methods is required, along with experience designing and maintaining automated test scripts.
Day to day: design, develop, execute and maintain test cases and scripts for functional, regression, integration and system testing; build and extend automated tests for recurring scenarios and critical workflows; analyse requirements, specifications and user stories for coverage gaps; identify, document, prioritise and track defects through resolution and support root cause analysis with developers; validate features, enhancements, bug fixes and release candidates across web, mobile, APIs and platform applications; take part in sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand ups, retrospectives and release readiness discussions; maintain test documentation, test data and traceability; run API, database and end to end testing where needed; and mentor junior test engineers on execution, defect documentation and quality practice.
