This is New Relic's Container Fabric organisation, the team that runs the internal platform everything else at the company deploys onto. The posting is unusually direct about what it wants: an operations heavy engineer who can keep a large scale Kubernetes fleet healthy and automate the parts that hurt. You would write custom Kubernetes operators and controllers, lead large infrastructure migrations, own incident response, write the retrospectives and implement the hardening that stops repeats. The bonus list is a good map of the environment: Golang, Karpenter for autoscaling, Terraform or Crossplane and Cluster API, Argo CD for GitOps, and AWS with Azure. Strong fit for an SRE or platform engineer who wants deep Kubernetes internals rather than application work.
Who this is for
Asks for 5 to 8 years in a DevOps, site reliability or infrastructure engineering role. Required: deep internals knowledge of Kubernetes with hands on experience writing custom operators; strong experience building production grade tools and services for infrastructure automation; an operations heavy mindset with a proven track record of day one and day two operations for a large scale Kubernetes fleet, handling high severity incidents and improving SLA compliance through automation; multi cloud experience including cloud native tooling and OS migrations; and the ability to lead projects in what the posting calls a Captain role, giving technical direction and unblocking teammates across time zones.
