About this role
This is the staff level version of MongoDB's Forward Deployed Engineer role, and the difference from
the senior seat is scoped clearly: you own the most complex customer engagements, especially where
the problem, the solution or the path to production is ambiguous. Rather than executing within a
predefined approach, you shape the technical approach itself from an understanding of the customer's
architecture, goals and constraints. You lead architectural design for customer facing solutions and
platform capabilities within the FDE domain, balancing hands-on implementation against technical
decision making across several teams, and act as a technical counterpart to customer engineering

Who this is for
Requirements. 9+ years of relevant engineering experience, including hands-on work in production
systems and complex customer or enterprise environments. Experience with LLMs, agent frameworks,
retrieval systems, evaluation frameworks, or deploying AI systems in production enterprise
environments. Prior experience in a forward deployed engineering role or a similarly hybrid role
spanning customer environments, product influence and hands-on engineering execution. Willingness and
ability to travel up to 30 percent to customer sites for on site engagements, technical reviews and
executive or customer presentations.
