Yugabyte
About this role
Yugabyte builds YugabyteDB, a PostgreSQL compatible distributed database running in over 100
countries, and the Database QA team is where distributed systems theory meets real world chaos. The
team owns end to end quality for the database itself, from core storage and the YSQL and YCQL
language layers up to features like Change Data Capture, blending performance engineering with system
level stress testing. This is not UI testing: you are trying to break a distributed database and
prove correctness under failure. The working environment is Linux, shell scripting, Git and CI/CD
pipelines you architect yourself. Apply if you find it satisfying to design the test that finds the
race condition, and if you want database internals exposure without having to be a database engineer
from day one.

Who this is for
Requirements. 5 to 8 years of experience in Software Development in Test (SDET) or systems
engineering, with a BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field. Hands-on experience with Linux,
shell scripting, Git, and architecting scalable CI/CD pipelines.
The team, in its own words. The Database QA team owns the end to end quality of YugabyteDB,
validating everything from core storage and the language layers (YSQL and YCQL) through to
high impact features such as Change Data Capture. It blends performance engineering with system level
stress testing so the database holds up in unpredictable production environments. The team describes
itself as the champions of correctness in a distributed world.
Company context worth having. YugabyteDB is a PostgreSQL compatible distributed database built for
cloud native workloads, deployed in over 100 countries and powering more than 5 million clusters.
Named customers include Shopify, Paramount+, GM, Kroger, Fiserv and NPCI. Yugabyte's staff are spread
across 12 or more countries and multiple time zones.
Location. The posting lists India without naming a city.
Who this is for. A test engineer with five to eight years who wants depth in distributed systems.
The degree line is stated (BS or MS in Computer Science or related), so it is a real filter. If your
background is functional or manual QA, this is a stretch: the work assumes you can reason about
storage engines, consistency and failure modes. If you have been writing stress and performance
harnesses against backend systems, it is a natural next step and one of the more technically
interesting QA seats on the board.
