New Relic
About this role
New Relic is an observability platform, and this seat is on the core services that every New Relic
agent connects to, processing millions of messages a second and handling petabytes of data. It is
genuinely full stack at scale: React interfaces on one side, Java or Python microservices on the
other, with heavy multithreading and concurrency in between. The distinctive part is the AI work,
integrating LLMs and AI agents into the New Relic ecosystem including building and maintaining MCP
(Model Context Protocol) servers that bridge New Relic's data to AI models. You lead architecture
discussions, run deep code reviews and mentor engineers, but the requirement list is technical
throughout with no people management in it. Apply if you want data volume and are equally comfortable
in a React component and a thread pool.

Who this is for
Must haves. 8+ years of professional software development experience with a proven track record in a
Lead or Staff capacity. Proficiency in React (preferred) or Angular, with a focus on state
management, performance optimisation and data visualisation. Expert level knowledge of Java or
Python, with comfort in multi-threading and concurrency patterns. API design and integration:
experience designing, building and consuming secure, performant RESTful APIs or GraphQL. Experience
with front end technologies including HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Experience with Go or other high
concurrency languages.
What you would do. Architect and execute: lead the design of end to end features, from high
performance React interfaces to scalable Java and Python microservices. AI innovation: drive the
integration of LLMs and AI agents into the New Relic ecosystem, including building and maintaining
MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers to bridge New Relic data with AI models. Scale heavily: build
and maintain highly available, multi-threaded backend services handling massive throughput and
concurrency. Technical leadership: lead system architecture discussions, conduct deep dive code
reviews and set engineering standards. Collaborate with product and design to turn complex data
visualisations into performant user experiences. Mentor: guide junior and senior engineers through
complex technical hurdles.
Scale context, from the posting. You would build and support a core set of services that all of New
Relic's agents connect to every hour of every day, processing millions of messages per second and
handling petabytes of data, as part of a distributed team.
Location. Bangalore. New Relic's metadata lists the Work Arrangement as Hybrid, and the company
states elsewhere that its model spans fully office based, fully remote and hybrid depending on the
role, so confirm which applies here in the first call.
Who this is for. A full stack engineer with eight or more years who wants observability scale and the
MCP and LLM integration work, which is unusually current. Despite the "Lead" title, the mentoring is
technical guidance rather than line management.
