About this role
Mactores runs enterprise database modernization work, and this Senior Database Developer seat is dedicated to Oracle to PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL migrations. It is deep, hands on database engineering: refactoring and converting Oracle SQL and PL/SQL to PostgreSQL compatible SQL and PLpgSQL, remediating what the AWS Schema Conversion Tool cannot convert on its own, running AWS DMS through full load and change data capture, and tuning PostgreSQL query performance with execution plans and indexing strategy. You work closely with application teams to keep behaviour and performance consistent through the cutover, and you own data validation and reconciliation between the two databases. Based in Mumbai. Good fit for an Oracle and PostgreSQL DBA or database developer with real migration scars who likes the detailed work of making stored procedure logic behave identically on a new engine.

What the posting asks for:
- 5+ years as an Oracle and PostgreSQL DBA and database developer.
- Strong hands on experience with Oracle Database and PostgreSQL or Aurora PostgreSQL, and real Oracle to PostgreSQL migration work.
- Advanced SQL and query performance tuning, plus PostgreSQL internals (indexing, statistics, execution plans).
- Experience with AWS SCT and AWS DMS, and with a schema migration tool such as Flyway or Liquibase.
Nice to have: AWS services (RDS, Aurora, CloudWatch, IAM), automation tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet), IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), and AWS Database Specialty or Solutions Architect certification.
The day to day: you convert Oracle SQL and PL/SQL to PostgreSQL, remediate AWS SCT findings, manage the Flyway migration codebase, support and monitor AWS DMS through full load and CDC, tune PostgreSQL queries, and validate and reconcile data between Oracle and PostgreSQL.
Location: Mumbai.
Honest read: a specialist database migration role, not a general backend seat. If you have lived through heterogeneous Oracle to PostgreSQL migrations, this is squarely for you. If your database work is incidental, it will be a stretch.
