About this role
Okta is rebuilding Privileged Access Management from scratch for cloud, SaaS, databases, containers and virtualised environments, and this seat is the senior individual contributor anchor for a newly formed engineering pod in India. The posting is specific about what that means at P4 level: your influence is at team scope, you own complex ambiguous problems, and you lead through hands on architecture and coding rather than management. The concrete work is building secure database and network device connectors, covering routers, switches and firewalls, on top of Okta's Zero Standing Privileges platform. Who this is for
Requirements as published:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years building high scale, cloud native backend systems.
- Demonstrated staff level (P4) behaviour: independently owning large tasks end to end, influencing technical decisions across a team, and raising the performance of the engineers around you.
- Domain expertise in Privileged Access Management, Identity and Access Management, or deep networking infrastructure. Familiarity with credential management, asset discovery or agentless communication patterns.
- Strong hands on Go, or deep expertise in C++, Rust or Java with a proven record of picking up Go quickly.
- Hands on experience with networking protocols (SSH, Telnet, TCP/IP), database security, microservices and asynchronous event driven systems.
- Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD automation and modern telemetry and observability tooling.

The actual day to day:
