B.F.A. (Painting) Dissertation Syllabus - Mumbai University
This is the University of Mumbai syllabus for the B.F.A. (Painting), the Revised Course in force from the academic year 2004-2005. It is still the current scheme: MU has never revised it, the University's own Faculty of Fine Art register still lists this degree as Ordinance O.5310 under Circular No. UG/210 of 2004, and the syllabus below is what MU's Summer 2026 examinations were set on.

Syllabus for Dissertation
- Every candidate will have to submit the synopsis of the proposed Dissertation / Project in the m,onth of September to the concerned incharge for approval. The synopsis should be in 400 words and should give clear outline of the subject. The subject for Dissertation / Project should be related to any topic from the area of Painting which has been selected by the Student and approved by the class incharge. It should be typed or computer printed and should not exceed 4000 words.
From the Education Pattern table
- Thesis/Project Work/Dissertation should be of 20 cm x 25 cm size, hardboard binding (no spiral binding or coil binding) with brown or black colour resin in vertical format. Dissertation should be written by typewriter or computer printing. Title and Information of the Dissertation should be printed in Gold on the cover page.
Lectures per Academic Year : 180 Hours; Tutorials per Academic Year : 04. Paper : 60 marks (To be submitted at the time of examination in the given format).
