Amendment of O.4006 relating to the eligibility criteria for B.P.A. (Music)
(i) Necessity of starting the course: The said course is instituted in 1978. The BOS has
proposed amendment in eligibility for admission to the course. The audition test is
conducted as entrance exam for the course. It was noted during the audition tests
that many talented and worthy candidates of other institutions/organizations are
not admit ted due to the current ordinance which mentions that “if student has
secured “A” grade or more at Diploma examination need not appear for audition
test.” Hence the BOS has proposed amendment so that the talented and worthy
candidates of other institutions/ organizations could be admitted to the said course.
(ii) Whether UGC has recommended to start said courses : Yes
(iii) Whether is course is commenced from 2019 -20? : The course is running from 1978
(iv) Whether the course started are self -financed, whether the adequate no. of eligible
permanent faculties are available?: The Department currently has both permanent
as well as ad-hoc faculty to teach the said course.
(v) Give the details regarding the duration of this course. Can it be compressed? : The
duration of the course is Three Years (Six Terms). It cannot be further compressed.
(vi) Intake capacity of the course and no. of admission given in the current academic
year (2 019-20) : The Current Intake Capacity of the said course is 14. In the year
2019 -20, 14 students were admitted as per the existing regulations. Amended intake
capacity is proposed from the year 2022 -23.
(vii) Opportunity of Employability available after undertak ing this course: The students
can work as freelance musicians as well as work as teachers in schools or follow
Masters Degree in Music

Amendment of O.4006 relating to the eligibility criteria for B.P.A. (Music) course
Existing O.4006 –
A candidate for being eligible for admission to the Degree of Bachelor of Music must
have passed
(a)HSC (Std XII) examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Higher
Secondary Education or an Examination of another body recognized as equivalent
thereto and passed the Diploma in Music of this University or Snageet Madhyama
Purna from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai.
Or
(b) HSC (Std XII) examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Higher
Secondary Education or an Examination of another body recognized as equivalent
thereto with Music as one of the subjects.
The cand idate’s admission to the course will be subject to his/her passing an
audition test conducted by the Head of the Institution where the candidate seeks
admission. The candidates who have passed the Diploma in Music Examination of
University of Mumbai in “A” Grade or above are exempted from the Audition Test.
Amended O.4006 –
A candidate for being eligible for admission to the B.P.A. (Music) course, must have
passed the H.S.C. (Std. XII) examination conducted by the Maharashtra State board
of Higher Secondary education or an examination of another University or body
recognised as equivalent thereto with Music as one of the Subjects. The candid ate’s
admission to the course will be subject to his passing an audition test conducted by
the Head of the Institute.
Or
A candidate for being eligible for admission to the B.P.A. (Music) course must have
passed the H.S.C. (Std. XII) examination conducted by the Maharashtra State board
of Higher Secondary education or an examination of another University or body
recognised as equivalent thereto with Diploma or equivalent certificate course in
Music like Madhyama Purna of Akhil Bhartiya Gandharava Mahavidyalaya Mandal,

Mumbai. The candidate’s admission to the course will be subject to his passing an
audition test conducted by the Head of the Institute.
Or
A candidate for being eligible for a dmission to the B.P.A. (Music) coursemust have
passed the H.S.C. (Std. XII) examination conducted by the Maharashtra State board
of Higher Secondary education or an examination of another University or body
recognised as equivalent thereto with Diploma Of Music in the relevant specialization
from Mumbai University. The candidate’s admission to the course will be subject to
his passing an audition test conducted by the Head of the Institute.
