Course Title : Diploma Course in Appreciation of Urdu Ghazal
Eligibility:
For being eligible for admission to the Diploma Course in Appreciation of Urdu
Ghazal a candidate must have passed Certificate Course in Appreciation of Urdu Ghazal .
The Candidates who have Passed HSC examination in any discipline from an y board will
also be eligible to take admission in this Course.
Regulations:
Fee Structure:
The fee structure of the course is as follows:
1. Tuition Fees ------------ Rs. 3500/-
2. Registration Fees ---- Rs. 100/ -
3. Examination Fee as per University norms
The Fee Structure may be change time to time as per university norms.
Duration:
Duration of the course will be one year and the examination will be held at
the end of the academic year.
2 Lectures of one hr. each will be held twice a week. (4 Lectures pe r week of one hour
duration)
(The candidate will not be admitted to the examination if he/she fails to keep 75% Attendance)
Intake Capacity:
The Intake capacity of the students is 15.
Standard of passing :
In order to pass the examination for the Diploma Course in Appreciation of Urdu
Ghazal a candidate must obtain 50 percent marks in written and practical
examinations. The candidate has to appear in examination in the same year of
admission. If due to any reason He/She could not sit in examination i n the same year,
He/She has to take re -admission to sit in examination again.

The following shall be the Syllabus for the Diploma Course in Appreciation of Urdu
Ghazal :
The Syllabus will be consist of Six portions i.e. Historical and Gradual Development of
Urdu Ghazal, Art of Urdu Ghazal, Two Important Classical poets & Ghazals, Two
Important Progressive Poets & Ghazals, Two Important Modern Poets & Ghazals and
Prosody . The features of the Sy llabus are as follows:
Historical and Gradual Development of Urdu Ghazal
1- Classical Ghazal
2- Progressive Ghazal
3- Modern Ghazal
Art of Urdu Ghazal
1- Baher
2- Radeef, Qafia
3- Matla, Matla e Sani, Husn e Matla, Muraddaf Ghazal, Ghair Muraddaf Ghaza l
Two Important Classical poets & Ghazals
1. Meer Taqi Meer
(i) Es Ah’d mein Elahi Muhabbat ko keya hua
(ii) Ash’k Aankhoon mein Kab Nahi Aata
2. Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib
(i) Phir Mujhe Dida e Tar Yad Aaya
(ii) Dil e Nadan Tujhe Hua keya hai

I am submitting herewith the proposal of Diploma Course in Appreciation of Urdu
Ghazal for the approval from University Authorities to introduce this proposed Course in coming
academic session i.e. 2019 -2020.
Sir, you are well aware that Ghazal is a popular form of Urdu Poetry . The popularity of
Urdu Ghazal is n ot bound with lingual barriers. A good number of non -Urdu knowing people
like this form of Urdu poetry and want to understand it’s artistic beauty. The Department of Urdu
has introduced a Course entitled “Certificate Course in Appreciation of Urdu Ghazal” for such
peoples from running academic session. This Course became much popular among students. In
view of it the Department is submitting herewith the proposal of Diploma Course in
Appreciation of Urdu Ghazal .
Therefore, it is requested kindly accept th is proposal and grant a permission to start this
course from coming academic session i.e. 2019 -2020.
