O. _6482 ___ TITLE: CERTIFICATE COURSE IN PEACE EDUCATION
This course is designed for in service, preservice teachers, teacher educators and individuals
interested in studying about Peace Education to develop the knowledge regarding Peace
Education and also practice some strategies for developing peace culture in the society.
Learners are expected to learn the v arious theories for peace education and also practice
strategies for developing peace culture in society. The course covers various elements of
Peace Education, including fundamentals of Peace Education, its concept, Philosophical and
Historical concepts a nd also theories related to the psychology of peace.
The aim of the course is to introduce theoretical and methodological issues in Peace and
Conflict Studies to deepen the students’ understanding of theoretical and empirical problems
in the study of the outbreak, development and resolution of armed conflicts. Focus is directed
upon conflict processes within and between states and different analytical levels – individual,
group, state, and regional
OBJECTIVES: After the course, students are expected to be able to:
Identify empirically and critically evaluate central obstacles and problems for conflict
resolution, conflict management, and durable peace
Independently conduct a basic anal ysis of central obstacles and problems for conflict
resolution, conflict management, and durable peace in an ongoing armed conflict as well as
identify and motivate strategies to manage these obstacles and problems
Actively and independently take part in s eminar discussions, do sho rt presentations as well as
opposing and defending an independently written thesis
Implement the strategies for peace :
o Within themselves
o In their surrounding (home and workplace )
o In the society
o For the purpose of implementing in the classroom
O. 6483 -- ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The Eligibility Criteria for the Certificate Course
inPeace Education are as follows:
Bachelor’s degree from any recognized Indian or Foreign University OR Completed Diploma
/ Degree in any discipline from any State.

Each Course: 100 marks
Internal Assessment for each Course: 40 Marks
External Assessment for each Course: 60 Marks
The semester by final examination (external component) of 60 % for each course will be as
follows:
1) Duration – 2 Hours
2) Theory Question Paper Pattern: There shall be six questions each of 10 marks based on
entire syllabus. All questions shall be compulsory with internal choice

successful candidates those who have successfully completed the theory as well as practical
activity in all courses.
