Preamble

Introduction:

The idea of what it is to be human in an age of scientific, technological, cultural and social
evolution has been altered as never before. The boundaries between human and the non -
human have become porous, problematizing the received perceptions of normalcy. Virtual
identities, modified bodies and artificial intelligence have also impacted the emergence of
posthuman enquiries. There are a range of ethical, philosophical, cultural and artistic
questions that posthuman awareness has engendered. This course aims to familiarize the
learners with the theories and praxes of posthumanism by mobilizing inputs from philosophy,
sociology, literary studies and culture studies.

Objectives of the course:
 To create an awareness of posthuman philosophy and theories. 
 To make the learners understand and explore the multidisciplinary possibilities of
Posthuman Studies. 
 To generate discussions and scholarships on areas such as literary studies, culture
studies, bioethics, media studies, queer studies and gender studies using the lens and
tools of Posthuman Studies. 
 To familiarize the learners with the concepts such as transhumanism, AI, etc.

Course outcomes:
CO 1: Learners will be able to apply theoretical and methodological aspects of
posthumanism in their literary and cultural analyses.

CO 2: Learners will be able to explore the interdisciplinary engagements of Posthuman
Studies.

CO 3: Learners will be able to build scholarship on culture and Literature with a focus on AI
and Transhumanism.
CO 4: Learners will be able to gain practical experiences in posthuman approaches and will
be able to apply them to various academic and professional situations.
